5 must-have hair care products

There are just some products that I must have in my collection at all time. This is not a rule, just MY favorite items.

1) Hair oil Adding this little miracle-worker to your hair care essentials will transform your styling routine, adding shine to your hair and keeping it silky and smooth all day long. Not to mention the feeling of warm oil on the scalp! Absolutely delightful. My favs. are; coconut oil, Jamaican Black Castor Oil, Olive Oil and Shea Butter!

*Pro-tip for applying raw sea butter to the hair- we all know how hard it it to rub chunks of Raw Shea-butter to the hair. So what I like to do it make sections in my hair put a small chunk between each section and turn the dryer on low to melt the butter in my hair, afterwards I just gently massage it into my scalp. Try it and tell me if I ain’t right, lol!

2) Get you a bonnet honey! Come on I just did your hair, you better tie that ish up lol! But for real though, I usually like the oversized ones for braids, because who likes sleeping with long braids all over your face? Not me! The bonnet not only helps prevent frizz, keeps the hairstyle longer, but it also protects your hair from all the evils that lurk out there, haha! I love my silk bonnets. If you don’t already have one, I recommend getting one or a hundred, do you beau!

3) If you don’t have one of those big “mustardish” color detangling combs that brings back painful childhood memories for your hair, we can’t be friends! I kid, I actually love that comb and it’s really not painful. It’s the perfect detangler for my curly hair and I’ve had it for ages, all my other combs have lived and died but that “old-faithful“ comb is still standing strong. You don’t have to get that exact one, but I highly recommend that if you have curly hair, get you a detangling comb or brush.

4) Edge control! I love that stuff, it’s great for creating beautiful edges as well as keeping your braids laid! The hold is real, y'all. Whether you need a clean swoop for an updo or to put your flyaways in check, I definitely recommend getting some edge control for your hair. If you don’t wanna use it, you can just get it to say you have it 🤣.

5) Last but not least, with the Thermal Hair Care Hot Head Deep Conditioning Heat Cap, say goodbye to spending countless hours under a dryer thanks to this amazing heating cap. It’s filled with flaxseed to help prevent breakage. Just pop the Heat Cap in the microwave and wear it for approximately 20 to 25 minutes, and violà! Orrrr you can be like me and just get what we call in Jamaica 🇯🇲 a “SCANDAL BAG” (those plastic grocery bags you have stored somewhere in your house) apply your hair treatment and place the bag on your head for a few minutes, whichever floats your boat.

Anyone knows that hair has a mind of its own especially Afro hair, so none of these products are “one-size fits all” as everyone’s hair is different. But with these basic essentials, you are guaranteed a great hair day!
